Make Room For The Green Car of The Year: The 2019 Honda Insight

April 24th, 2019 by

In times where the environment has become one of the hottest topics, people have started to turn to hybrid and electric cars. With that in mind, the Los Angeles Auto Show (LA Auto Show®) presented the 2019 Honda Insight with the 2019 Green Car of the Year award*. This award has been honoring cars that have raised the bar while considering environmental aspects but also the customer’s needs. The award has been given to Honda cars four times, and this time the ‘old-new’ Honda Insight earned it. The Insight’s first generation came out in 1999, making 2019’s the third generation of this vehicle.

The Insight counts with a 1.5L I-VTEC engine, it also has a two-motor hybrid, that means that the car runs on gas as well. The combined miles per gallon rate is 52 and you do not have to worry about charging it: this car is a standard hybrid. What does that mean? It means that the car holds a system called regenerative braking, where the battery recharges by pressing the brake pedal. It is such a convenient car, you do not have to make any adjustments in order to buy it. No need to worry about adding a charging station to your home, you can just buy the car and drive it the same as any other sedan, but you will get a 52 MPG rate. Sounds great, doesn’t it? The best part is how affordable the car is. You will be helping the environment, saving a lot of money on gas and you will also get a car that fits your budget.

One of the biggest concerns for some people is the power of the car. It is a misconception that hybrids or electric cars do not have much power. It can be true for some cars, but not for the Insight. For those people that still don’t think it is enough, Honda added the “Sport” mode to the Insight, which means that whenever it is on this mode, the car will gain more power and pick up speed faster. On the other hand, it has an EV mode, where for as far as one mile, the car runs only on the electric motor while the gasoline is shut off.

With the 2019 Honda Insight, you will not only be helping the environment, but you will also be protecting yourself and your family. The car is equipped with Honda Sensing® safety features in all trim levels, including Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist System. These features can be the difference between an accident and a safe drive.

When you go on a test drive, make sure to ask your salesman to show you how these features work. With a camera placed in front of the vehicle, the car stops itself from hitting another object in front of it. It is scary, at least to me, to think of a machine being so independent, but I drove it at Clawson Honda of Fresno a couple of times and it works wonderfully! Like the rest of the car, even when it is breaking on its own, it is still smooth. Perfect for that stop-and-go, chaotic traffic. Take some time to check out the 2019 Green Car of The Year, the Honda Insight. In your visit to the dealership, make sure to ask about Clawson’s Engine for Life Warranty. The warranty is covered for as long as you own the car, and it is for current plus ten prior model years, with under 100,000 miles. Which means that your car could last you and your family a really long time and many adventures! Come down to Clawson Honda for a test drive, we have more than 20 Honda Insights for you to choose from!
